The Saxenda® dosing schedule
The Saxenda® dosing schedule was designed to help you get the most from your medicine and to minimize gastrointestinal side effects. Review the schedule below, and be sure to schedule a 4-month follow-up appointment with your health care provider. Contact him or her sooner if you have questions about dosing or side effects.
Your prescription of Saxenda® contains enough medicine for 30 days.
Below is a dosing schedule to guide you through the starting dosage of 0.6 mg to the dosage of 3 mg.
Saxenda® dosing schedule
Use Saxenda® exactly as prescribed by your health care provider. After you start Saxenda®, provided you have no issues with tolerating it, your dose should be increased weekly until you reach the 3-mg dose. After that, do not change your dose unless your health care provider tells you to. If you have any questions, call your health care provider.
If you received a sample of Saxenda®, please note that it will last for 17 days. You will need to start a new prescription on day 18, so be sure to fill your prescription right away.
Nausea is the most common side effect when first starting Saxenda®, but decreases over time in most people as their body gets used to the medicine. For additional side effects, please refer to the Medication Guide.
If you miss your daily dose of Saxenda®, use Saxenda® as soon as you remember. Then, take your next daily dose as usual on the following day. Do not take an extra dose of Saxenda® or increase your dose on the following day to make up for your missed dose. If you miss your dose of Saxenda® for 3 days or more, call your health care provider to talk about how to restart your treatment.
